Mobile Cement Silos

Horizontal Mobile Cement Silos for Flexible Cement Storage and Dosing

German Plant Experience (GPE) supplies horizontal mobile cement silos designed for concrete producers, civil contractors, infrastructure projects and other applications requiring flexible cement storage and dosing.

Unlike conventional vertical cement silos, GPE mobile cement silos are designed to be transported between locations and installed with minimal site preparation. They provide a practical solution for temporary projects, mobile concrete batching plants, pugmills and construction sites where permanent silo foundations are undesirable or impractical.

Their combination of mobility, integrated cement storage, controlled dosing and rapid deployment makes them particularly suitable for projects where cement handling equipment needs to move with the operation.

Mobile Cement Silo Without Permanent Foundations

A major advantage of GPE horizontal mobile cement silos is their ability to operate without the extensive civil works normally associated with conventional vertical silos.

The silo can be positioned on a suitable prepared surface and connected to the downstream cement handling or batching equipment. Optional telescopic support legs provide additional flexibility during loading, unloading and installation.

Depending on the configuration, the telescopic-leg system can allow the silo to be loaded onto or unloaded from a trailer without requiring a separate mobile crane. This can simplify mobilisation and reduce the equipment required to establish the silo at a new site.

The exact installation arrangement depends on the silo model, capacity, site conditions and transport configuration.

Mobile Cement Silo with Load Cells

GPE mobile cement silos can be equipped with load cells for continuous weight measurement.

A load-cell-equipped silo provides the operator with real-time information about the quantity of cement stored in the silo. This can assist with:

  • Accurate cement batching
  • Cement inventory monitoring
  • Stock management
  • Replenishment planning
  • Monitoring cement consumption
  • Integration with automated batching systems

Where required, GPE can integrate the weighing and dosing system with the customer’s concrete batching plant or other process control system.

Cement Dosing for Different Applications

The cement dosing system can be engineered according to the required application and production process.

For example, a mobile cement silo supplying a pugmill may require a relatively low and controlled cement dosing rate, while a silo feeding a high-production concrete batching plant may require substantially higher dosing capacity.

GPE can therefore configure the cement discharge and dosing equipment around the required:

  • Cement dosing rate
  • Batch size
  • Production capacity
  • Material characteristics
  • Accuracy requirements
  • Downstream equipment
  • Control and automation system

Time-based cement dosing can also be incorporated where this is appropriate for the application.

Designed for Pugmills, Concrete Batching Plants and Construction Projects

GPE mobile cement silos can be configured for a range of applications, including:

  • Mobile concrete batching plants
  • Pugmill plants
  • Road construction projects
  • Infrastructure projects
  • Civil construction sites
  • Temporary concrete production facilities
  • Remote construction projects
  • Projects requiring relocatable cement storage

For a mobile batching plant or pugmill operation, integrating the cement silo and dosing system into the overall plant layout can simplify material handling and reduce site installation requirements.

Tailor-Made Mobile Cement Silo Solutions

GPE does not treat mobile cement silos as a single standard configuration. The equipment can be custom engineered to suit the customer’s application, transport requirements and downstream process.

Depending on the project, optional features may include:

  • Load cells
  • Cement dosing equipment
  • Time-based dosing
  • Variable dosing rates
  • Telescopic support legs
  • Cement screw conveyors
  • Filters
  • Level monitoring
  • Automated controls
  • Special discharge arrangements
  • Connections to existing batching or process equipment

This flexibility allows the mobile silo to be configured around the customer’s existing infrastructure rather than requiring the complete site to be redesigned around a standard silo.

Compatible with Standard Cement Delivery Trucks

GPE mobile cement silos are designed to be compatible with conventional bulk cement delivery systems.

The silo can be configured to receive cement from standard cement tankers using appropriate pneumatic filling connections and associated equipment. This allows contractors and concrete producers to use the cement delivery infrastructure already available at many construction sites.

The result is a practical mobile cement storage solution that can be deployed with minimal changes to the site’s existing material supply arrangements.

A Flexible Cement Storage Solution

A GPE horizontal mobile cement silo combines transportability, cement storage, weighing and controlled dosing in a compact system.

For contractors and concrete producers moving between projects, the ability to relocate the silo can provide a significant operational advantage. Instead of constructing a permanent cement storage facility at every project, the same mobile silo can be transported and reused as projects change.

GPE can work with your engineering and operations team to determine the appropriate mobile cement silo capacity, transport configuration, dosing system and control arrangement for your project.

Mobile Cement Silo Specifications

GPE horizontal mobile cement silos are available in several standard configurations to provide different cement storage capacities while maintaining a transportable and compact footprint.

The following specifications are indicative. GPE can modify the silo configuration, dosing system, auger arrangement and other features to suit specific project requirements.

Mobile Cement Silo Without Extensive Civil Works

The horizontal configuration distributes the weight of the silo and stored cement over a relatively large footprint. As a result, special permanent foundations are typically not required, subject to the ground conditions, silo configuration and applicable local engineering requirements.

In many applications, a level, stable and adequately compacted surface is sufficient for installation.

Avoiding substantial permanent foundations can reduce:

  • Site preparation costs
  • Concrete and civil construction costs
  • Installation time
  • Mobilisation requirements
  • Potential delays associated with permanent construction approvals

The final installation arrangement should always be assessed for the specific site and local regulatory requirements.

Telescopic Legs for Loading and Unloading

GPE mobile cement silos can be equipped with telescopic support legs designed to simplify loading and unloading from a flatbed trailer.

This arrangement can allow the silo to be mounted or demounted without requiring a separate mobile crane, depending on the specific configuration and site conditions.

The telescopic-leg system therefore provides an important advantage for contractors who need to relocate the cement silo between different project sites.

Integrated Cement Auger / Screw Conveyor

The mobile cement silo can be supplied with an integrated cement auger (screw conveyor) for controlled transfer of cement from the silo to downstream equipment.

The auger can be configured to suit the required:

  • Cement transfer rate
  • Discharge height
  • Conveyor length
  • Connection to the batching plant or pugmill
  • Cement dosing arrangement

This allows the mobile silo to function as an integrated cement storage and transfer system rather than simply as a standalone storage vessel.

Customised Configuration

The standard configurations provide a starting point, but GPE can incorporate special features and modifications according to the customer’s requirements.

Possible options include load-cell weighing, cement dosing systems, control and automation, different conveying arrangements, level monitoring and customised connections to existing concrete batching plants or pugmills.

GPE can therefore engineer the mobile cement silo around the capacity, transport, site and material-handling requirements of the project.
